Brennar Goree’s recent win at the U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships, Young Adult title, in Anaheim, Calif., with partner Torri Smith put him in the record books.

“Brennar is the first junior dancer to win all three National Shag/Swing dance titles in one year,” said Cindy Black, mother and agent of the Bayside High senior.

Earlier in 2007, he won the National Shag Dance Championships and the USA Grand National Dance Championships with South Carolina partner Autumn Jones.

“Competitive dance is a small world,” said Goree, 18.

“My partner and I placed second to Torri and her partner last year at the Open.”

He partnered with Torri this year when Benji Schwimmer, of “So You Think You Can Dance” fame, brought them together.

Schwimmer choreographed the winning swing routine and coached the couple for the event.
