Early Life and Education

Catherine Elizabeth Middleton (now Catherine Elizabeth Mountbatten-Windsor, Duchess of Cambridge) was born on January 9, 1982, in Reading, Berkshire, England.

Her parents, Michael Francis Middleton and Carole Elizabeth Middleton, met while working in the civil aviation industry. Kate is the eldest of three children, with a younger sister, Philippa Charlotte "Pippa" Middleton, and a younger brother, James William Middleton.

At the age of two, Kate moved with her family to Amman, Jordan, where her father was transferred for work.

She attended an English nursery school there and returned to Reading with her family in 1986. Kate attended St Andrew's School in Pangbourne and Marlborough College in Wiltshire, graduating with A-l
